Cookie banners
If you use tools that collect information from the website visitors through cookies, you will usually need a cookie consent solution. With our help, you’ll get a consent solution for your site that fully complies with GDPR requirements.
What exactly are cookies?
In simple terms, cookies are files used to collect data, most commonly for tracking website metrics and visitor behavior. Cookies are also often used for targeted advertising and measuring the effectiveness of marketing efforts. Some websites may require specific cookies for essential functionalities.
Cookies are divided into the following categories:
- Essential cookies are necessary for the website to function properly.
- Functional cookies remember settings such as language preferences and passwords.
- Statistical cookies collect information about visitors, such as where they come from and what pages they visit during their session.
- Marketing cookies typically gather data for advertising audiences, such as retargeting visitors on social media platforms.
Google Consent Mode V2 is mandatory by March 6, 2024!
Consent Mode V2 is Google’s update to the existing feature that communicates cookie consent status to Google. This update will become mandatory on March 6, 2024, and not implementing it may impact the use of Google Ads or Google Analytics. The update adds two new cookie categories alongside the existing ones.
A cookie consent solution has always been required when using Google services, but now, with the introduction of Google Consent Mode V2, it is essential to ensure compliance if you wish to continue using the services mentioned above.

What should be considered when setting up a cookie consent solution?
There are specific regulations in Finland regarding the use of cookies, which every service provider must comply with on their website. Here’s a summary of these rules:
- Clearly explain the types, purposes, and duration of cookies (or similar technologies) used on your site.
- Get a consent from the user for storing and using cookies.
- The cookie consent banner should list the different types of cookies used on the site.
- Users must be able to decline cookies just as easily as they can accept them.
- The banner must not have pre-checked boxes for consent.
- It should be easy to withdraw consent or modify cookie settings, using a method consistent with the original choice.
- Ensure that withdrawal of consent or opting out effectively removes or overrides previously stored data.
- Service providers must be able to store and prove that they obtained user consent.

There are various tools for cookie consent
When we create websites, we always include a cookie consent solution. Typically, we use the Complianz plugin for WordPress. If your company already has a WordPress website, we recommend using this plugin.
If you prefer another tool, we can also implement cookie consent using Cookiebot or CookieYes, both of which are widely used for managing cookie consent.
